This app is for me; for several aspects of my 'life' - to make things I use and value all available in one place. It contains functionalities for:
I am picky with what I eat because - I'd like to be healthy and optimise my body and brain as best I can.
I search for healthy recipes and the algorithm sure finds lots of great new ones I'd like to try. I get frustrated with trying to find what I've saved in different apps, screenshots on my phone, pinned somewhere etc so I wanted an easy way to add recipes to my own app - one place, always on my phone.
The 'Add new' is easy, not many required fields as I can always add more later if needed. Focus is on the ease of 'copy/paste' from something I've found so I can capture it. I often add a link to the recipe so I can go back for images if I want to.
There is one list of ingredients and one text field for the method - showing up next to each other on the recipe details page (so I don't have to scroll between 'add the garlic' and 'amount of garlic to add' - I never understood why it's not next to the 'how').
I try to add an image as it's a shame to have it empty before I've got 'my own' after making it.
I also added tags to use in the filter (although most recipes ended up in the 'healthy' bucket, only a few in the 'I deserve it' category).
Two 'call to action' buttons on the overview page, 'Add to log' and 'Add to plan'. The first means, I can go back and see what I had to eat, the other for the weekly food planner if I am organised enough.
I've made a training plan (as I have decided to run the Venice marathon on my Birthday this year).
I created one Google calendar where I added all the sessions from my AI generated plan (that had to include social runs with friends as well as the 'normal' progress in runs). I have the events pull in to a google sheet that the app reads from.
I have an overview page where I can see what I need to do 'today' and can mark an activity as done. I can also see upcoming training for the week (to manage expectation and plan ahead).
I play the piano and am re-learning, trying new pieces and songs to keep challenging myself. I've played on and off since I was a child as there was always a piano around and bought myself what I consider a nice piano a few years ago. When I find sheet music to try, I'll save a bookmark to it and then end up not necessarily having an iPad charged to do the browser view.
I have a playlist called 'Piano' on Spotify that I've set the app up to pull in the songs from through an API, with a link to:
'Listen' to the song within the app
'Play' displaying the sheet music
This gives me a really good way to play the song, open the sheet music to play along.
Another feature I've added to my app is a shopping list for regular food shops. I've added a hierarchy that matches the order they appear in the shop and a 'popularity' count so I can list my regular items first if I want to.
Once the item is added to the list, it appears in the 'Put in trolley' section at the top. First thing I see when I'm in the supermarket.
Once I've marked an item as 'added', it appears in the 'In trolley' section and is removed from the 'to add' list so I can see what I've added versus what's left to pick up.
Finally, for next time, I can clear the list which completely wipes the two top sections, ready for a new shopping list.
